Sketchbook Project 2015: Winter

I've signed up to take part in The Sketchbook Project 2015, with a 32 page sketchbook to fill and send back for inclusion in the permanent collection at The Brooklyn Art Library. After making a start on my sketchbook just before christmas, I got around to finishing off my second page. The theme of my sketchbook is "Winter", and one thing I like to do during Winter is watch a bunch of Christmas movies on tv...

The Man In The Iron Mask

After yesterday's blog post about Daniel Craig starring in both the Bond films and the upcoming remake of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, today I saw the poster for the second Sherlock Holmes film and I began wondering if maybe there's a shortage of actors out there to star in all these franchise movies.

As well as playing Sherlock Holmes, Robert Downey Jr is also Iron Man and will be in next Summer's The Avengers movie. And Chris Evans (not that one!) is also in The Avengers as Captain America, but was the Human Torch in the Fantastic Four movies a few years ago. And before all this, Sir Ian McKellen was both Gandalf in The Lord Of The Rings trilogy, and Magneto over in the X-men films.

Surely they must get confused about which character they're meant to be playing...

Superman III: Drunk Evil Superman vs Clark Kent

The other weekend, I sat down to watch a bit of telly while I had some lunch and discovered that Superman III was on. I was pleased to find that I'd turned on at one of my favourite parts, where a drunk evil Superman has a fight with Clark Kent in a junk yard. What I especially like about this scene is the fact that you know Superman is drunk and evil because he hasn't shaved for a while, and every now and then he sort of staggers around a bit. Also his costume is a bit darker than normal.

Anyway, after finishing my sandwich I turned it off before it got to the scary part with the machine that turns a woman into a robot, but I decided that I wanted to draw a pciture of drunk evil Superman having a fight with Clark Kent.

And here it is...
