Papero W/ Artists: Photos from the Maison et Objet Paris 2012

I was selected to take part in a collaborative project with the Korean papercraft model makerPaperobean, organised by the London-based design PR company Epha3. As part of this project I was asked to draw my own design on two of Papero's best-selling models: the buggy car and biplane. I recently posted photos of my designs on my blog.

These models were then exhibited at Maison et Objet Paris between the 7–11 September, and I know have some photos of the exhibition display to share...

Papero W/ Artists

I was asked by the London-based design PR company Epha3 to collaborate on a project with the Korean papercraft model maker Paperobean, and design my own customised version of two of Papero's best-selling products: the buggy car and the biplane.

The Papero models are produced as flat A4 blank laser cut sheets, which can then be decorated, and fitted together to create the 3D models. The instructions are easy to follow (I managed to put it together all by myself!) and I was amazed at how many moveable parts the finished models have – the tyres turn and you can open the doors and lift the bonnet on the buggy car, and the biplane has a slidable door and moveable propellor!

Here are some photos of the two models I produced...

Seven other artists took part in the project, and all our works will be exhibited at Maison et Objet Paris between the 7–11 September. You can view more photos of my models, plus the designs produced by the other artists over at Epha3's website.

The Amazing Adventures of Pussy Boy!

A few months ago I ended up having the following exchange on Twitter with my friend and awesome comic drawing person Rachael Smith...

Rachael then followed this up by drawing a picture of the aforementioned "kid with cat-like superpowers" ...

And then I came up with a series of comics featuring Pussy Boy... (click on the comics to enlarge)

If you're going to get superpowers based on the abilities of an animal, then a cat is probably not the first one that you'd choose!

Collaboration project 1

After working on a sketch together during the Collaborama! event last month, me and Kazu have been working on another collaborative illustration together, which we just finished.

I started it off by drawing the initial image on an A4 page, and then scanning and emailing it to Kazu, who then drew another part to the image, scanned it and sent it back to me. We kept on sending it back and forth until we'd pretty much run out of space to draw. Here is the finished piece...

It has been very interesting to work together on a single image, and I'm very happy with the final piece and seeing our characters and styles interacting. We've decided to work on another collaborative illustration and see where it leads...
