Happy Halloween

Okay, so I got a bit behind with my blog posts recently, and one thing I missed was this illustration I did the Illustration Rally website's Halloween Rally.

On a night when kids are going out dressed up as monsters, surely it's only fair that the monsters would get to play fancy dress too...?

Album Cover Rally

My work has been included on the Illustration Rally blog as part of their Album Cover Rally, the brief for which was to re-illustrate or re-design the album covers of your choice. I had quite a few ideas for this brief, but settled for the following covers:

Homework by Daft Punk

Elephant by The White Stripes

If I'd had more time, I'd have loved to have done more of these. Maybe I can pick this theme up again at a later date. You can check out all of the submissions over at Illustration Rally.

Happy Valentine's Day

Love is a smoke rais'd with the fume of sighs;
Being purg'd, a fire sparkling in lover's eyes;
Being vex'd, a sea nourish'd with loving tears.
What is it else? A madness most discreet,
A choking gall, and a preserving sweet.
Romeo And Juliet (1.1.188-92)
That's all well and good, but I think old Billy Shakespeare forgot the one Universal Truth about Love...

This drawing also featured on Illustration Rally's Valentine's day rally, which you can view here.

Look what they writed...

I'm currently working on a couple of projects which I can't quite blog about yet, so things are likely to be a bit quiet from me over the next few weeks.

Meanwhile, the Illustration Rally website has just posted an extremely flattering Artist Feature all about me, which you can read here!

Thanks very much to Natsuki Otani and everyone at Illustration Rally. After you've finsihed reading all about me, you should definitely take some time to have a look around the site as they have a lot of interesting features and really amazing artwork. Plus they've done a lot of great work in support of the Japanese Tsunami Appeal with their Ganbare Nippon appeal. I'm really happy to be featured on their site...

**UPDATE**
I was browsing through the stats for my website earlier to see where the traffic to my site was coming from and was amazed to discover another article about me and my work over on the Comics Alliance website! It was posted a few months ago, but this was the first I'd heard of it. I guess online articles are like buses, you wait ages for one and then two come along at once!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! The day when Jesus got better and had a real craving for chocolate...or something. I drew this picture as a submission for Illustration Rally, but then after I finished it, somebody commented on a blog post I made last Easter, and I suddenly realised that I'd already done a similar idea before... Well, if something's worth doing once, it's worth doing again. And Jesus really does love chocolate!

Anyway, back to this image, and I decided to use a brush pen I found lying around on my desk for the drawing, and I quite like the differences in width it creates. I think I'll experiment a bit more with this in the future...

Right, I'm off to eat some more chocolate!

Illustration Rally: Royal Wedding

In case you hadn't heard (because it hasn't been mentioned that much), next Friday is the Royal Wedding between Prince William and Catherine Middleton.

I've been slightly amazed at the amount of Royal Wedding souvenirs that I've seen on sale leading up to the big day. Everything from masks of William and Kate to t-shirts, tea towels, plates and even condoms!

I'm sure even the Queen likes to have a nice cup of tea in a Wills & Kate mug...

The Illustration Rally site will be featuring a series of illustrations based around the Royal Wedding, and my effort is kicking the whole thing off.
