Happy Birthday Nozomi
It was my friend Nozomi's birthday last week, so I drew her this card. Last year she did a puppet course, so I drew a picture of her with her puppet...

A Portrait Of The Artist As A Young Man (Creative Project #15: Self-Portrait)
My friend Cathy set up the Facebook group Creative Project as "a way to start getting people on facebook to communicate their ideas, sketches, and creative process out in the open". Each month Cathy posts a Quote/Theme/Word as a starting point for members to create something - photography, drawings, sketches, videos, beats, music, ...anything creative!
This month's them was Self-Portrait, and I used my laptop camera to bring up an image of myself onscreen that I could draw from. I also decided to draw myself as I appear in my comic strips...

Birthday Catch Up...
I've been drawing quite a few birthday cards recently, and here are some of them...
First, Janice and Pikachu...

Next, here's Jo drawing...

And finally, Steve Walsh works in Gosh! Comics and also does the South London Hardcore podcast, which recently featured an episode about the Horniman Musuem, famous for it's stuffed walrus...

Happy Birthday Jess!
Last night my friend Jess had a Venetian themed party with Venetian films, Venetian landscapes, Venetian cocktails and jumbo straws! Keeping on theme, I drew her this card...

Inspired by Canaletto's paintings of Venice and the Wall's Cornetto advert...
And because it was her birthday, I made sure I included a Cornetto inside the card...

Congratulations Kavita and Gus
My friend Kavita recently announced that she'd got engaged to Gus. They had drinks to celebrate the occasion a few weeks ago, but I hadn't had time to draw them a card. I managed to make up for it a little while later and drew them this card (Kavita is a GP and Gus flies planes)...

Trans-Plantable Living Room
Trans-Plantable Living Room is a living, edible performance space, grown by community gardeners, and will be hosting a number of interactive performances next month, in both Cardiff and London. I was asked by Lisa Woynarski to produce an illustration for a book documenting a performance project that she's working on as part of the Trans-Plantable Living Room.
Lisa sent me an extract from Michael Pollan's book Second Nature to illustrate. The text describes Michael's memories of harvesting vegetables from his Grandpa's garden and likens the experience to the board game Candyland, which gave me the idea of drawing a variation on the Candyland board, featuring the various fruit and vegetables mentioned in the text piece...

Life Drawing at The Vintage Emporium
This evening I went and did some Life Drawing at
The Vintage Emporium off of Brick Lane.
The model did some 5 minute poses...

Then some longer 15 minute poses...

After that I had to leave to go to a gig in Shepherd's Bush, but I'm hoping I can go along again soon to do some more life drawing...
