On Thursday night, my friend Mel invited me along to a screening of Zombeavers as part of Film4's FrightFest 2014. The film sees a group of college kids facing a hoard of zombie beavers (and I don't think that's a spoiler as it's IN THE TITLE!!!). And even though I left the cinema wondering what I just watched, I enjoyed it. It's big dumb fun, and sometimes that's enough!

Sketch Dailies: Mystique
The latest Sketch Dailies illustration brief as part of the #7DaysOfColour theme was the blue-skinned Mystique from the X-men comics and films. Here she is feeling blue about missing out on a magazine cover shoot to another cyan-hued female...

Look What I Drawed...when I was four and a half years old!
My mum was having a sort out recently when she found a bunch of drawings that I did when I was four and a half (when you're that age, the half is very important!). I was pleasantly surprised when I saw them, especially by the fact that there were quite a few recognisable characters included...

O Captain! My Captain!
I woke up this morning to the news that Robin Williams had passed away. He had starred in so many films that I watched as a kid – including Mrs Doubtfire, Hook and Jumanji – as well as films that I watched when I was older including Insomnia and One Hour Photo.
But probably my favourite performance of his, and one that I watched countless times growing up, was as the voice of the Genie from Walt Disney's Aladdin.

Sketch Daily #TMNTWEEK: Sergeant Bananas
Today's character on Sketch Dailies' TMNT Week is Sergeant Bananas.
A fairly niché character, that I think was created just for the toy line. I did actually own this figure when I was a kid!

#FEELING NUTS – Michael Jackson
Check One Two was founded in 2012 by brothers Simon and Andrew Salter, who discovered that men are still dying from one of the most treatable forms of cancer. If caught early, testicular cancer is almost 100% curable. They started Check One Two to change the behavior of a generation of men by reaching two goals:
1. Spread awareness far and wide of #FEELINGNUTS
2. Educate men (and the women in their lives) about how to check your nuts
The movement is about is purely about raising awareness, NOT money, and utilising various social media platforms and the hashtag #FEELINGNUTS.
I'd been asked to participate by drawing iconic crotch grabs/depicting historical/cultural figures #FEELINGNUTS and, of course, decided to start with the King Of Pop, Michael Jackson...

Culture Comic Guest Strip
I'm slowly catching up with stuff I didn't get around to posting, and a few weeks ago now I did a guest strip for John Riordan's excellent Culture webcomic which revolves around a couple of microbes in a petri dish discussing the latest cultural events. I got the idea for a strip based around the Marina Abramovic exhibition at The Serpentine Gallery, and John was kind enough to run it as a guest post on his blog...

Happy Birthday Ivy!
A few weeks ago it was my friend Ivy's birthday, and she had a BBQ in London Fields to celebrate. She's also been cooking a lot of Chinese Hot Pots recently (which I've been lucky enough to be invited along to!) so I drew her this card, with her getting ready to enjoy another Chinese Hot Pot...
