So, here are the last couple of suggestions from my first Social Networking Scribbling experiment...

Melanie McClure:

STAAAAAAR TREKKKKKK!

Tom Fogarty:
Draw a cock

Thanks to everyone who provided me with suggestions. I might do this again sometime soon...

Facebook Doodles 1

So, today I struck upon an idea. Post the following as my status update on Facebook: "Paul Shinn wants to draw but is finding it hard to come up with something... any suggestions??" and then await the responses.

Holly Abbott:
My dog's cleaning himself! Any good? X

Robert L Webb:

Snails on a big yellow salt box the ones they use in winter to keep the roads fron icing up I saw it not so long ago on the way home it made me giggle irony me thinks... (-_-)

More to come...

(I've also just realised that this is my 100th blog post of 2009. That's already four times as many posts this year than in 2008! Wow.)

Comic Catharsis

I've had this infected insect bite on my foot since last Thursday, and without going into vomit-inducing details, it's not very pleasant looking. Anyway, in an effort to make the most of a bad situation, I drew a quick little comic strip about it all...

Otanjoubi Omedetou!

Yesterday was my friend Kazu's birthday. We had a really nice party in her garden, where we ate sushi, drank wine, and had multilingual language classes!

Illustration Friday: Caution

Okay, so I feel as though I am actually back up and running with regards to actually doing some Illustration work, and to sort of cement this fact, I've completed my first Illustration Friday submission in ages...

This week's subject is Caution, which made me think of all those Cautionary Tales our mothers told us when we were young, like for instance: If the wind changes, your face will stay like that!...

Japan-o-rama!!

I'm going global!

I'm currently exhibiting work, along with some of my friends from the MA course, in Osaka, Japan, which is all very exciting!

There's a website with a video we shot in Camberwell earlier in the year (now with added musical madness), and here are a couple of photos from the exhibition:

So, if you happen to be around in Japan before the 31 August, check it out...

Happy Birthday, Yuki!

Here's the Birthday card I made for Yuki last week, inspired by her love of Alice In Wonderland, and the fact that the other day when we were out, everything was "Curious" to her...

Yuki & Paul's Fantastic Napkin Doodle Time!!!!

Today, me and Yuki spent a LOT of time wandering all over London looking for houses! Tired and slightly emotional, we stopped off at The Phoenix in Denmark Hill to rest our legs and have something to eat before going to look at the final property of the day. After scoffing down our home-made burgers and chips, we still had a bit of time to waste before we had to leave, so we did some tag-team doodling on a napkin, playing a game of Guess The Coursemates, plus some other random scribblings...

...It's possible that we were quite delirious at this point. Also, that's ketchup on the top-left, not blood!

Collaborama!

Today was 'Collaborama!', part of the Alternative Press Festival, a day of collaborative zine making, creative workshops and stalls selling people's self-published work. I was there with a bunch of people from the MA at Camberwell, selling copies of my Haiku Comics anthology. Here are a couple of collaborative drawings I did during the day...

...with Kazu Morishita

...and Carolina Martinez Marin.

I also took part in a workshop run by Zarina Liew on producing 4-Koma comics, and created a couple of comics about the events of the workshop which then got included in the Zine that was being created, printed in a run of 300 copies and distributed on the day...

...with apologies to Zarina for the slightly rushed "likeness"...

Now I'm all tired out and ready for some much needed sleep. Tomorrow is the Alternative Press Fair, and hopefully another good day... :-)
