Maurice Sendak (10 June 1928 – 8 May 2012)

The author and illustrator Maurice Sendak passed away last week at the age of 83. The New York Times called Sendak "the most important children's book artist of the 20th century."

I decided to draw an illustration celebrating one of Sendak's most popular titles (and my own personal favourite), Where The Wild Things Are, with Max and one of the wild things sitting down and enjoying Maurice Sendak's book like so many children (and adults) have done and will continue to do for years to come...

    A really nice tribute :)
    I was heartbroken when I heard he'd passed away like part of my childhood had gone with him. We're so lucky to have the treasures he left behind. Let the wild rumpus continue forever!
